Nuttin But The Hits:2015 Panini Americana HUGE PULL

I have been waiting to post this break.
Last Black Friday my friend over at Project Pedro Blog helped pick me up a box of 2015 Panini Americana that was a bargain from Da Card World for $30. I was super stoked as I had always wanted to bust a box myself after picking up and trading for some singles.
Each of the boxes have 4 Memorabilia or Autograph cards per box with at least of them being 2 autos per box. You can find names such as Bradley Cooper, Al Pacino, Paula Abdul, Sylvester Stallone, Brooke and Hulk Hogan, Mickey Rourke, Kevin Hart, Jordana Brewster, Martin Short, Alexa Vega, Nick Cannon, Laura Prepon, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Vanilla Ice among many more. So I know there was plenty to find.

Up first my insert parallel pulls. These look super cool. Got some big names as well.

My first pull, a Slade Smiley relic. Multi color. I wasn't sure who he was.

Then came a Craig Dollase autograph

And my next find is pretty solid because she's got Bette Davis eyes....

Triple Memorabilia card of the great Bette Davis. Pretty sick!

Then to finish it up....play the Rocky theme song...
BOOM! The man himself and one of the toughest pulls in the box!
For $30 I think I did pretty well. It also left me hanging and wanting more. I hope to bust another box down the road. Prices have dipped even more on boxes and when or if I get more hobby dollars and I wanna grab another one or two.

A big thanks also goes out to Project Pedro Blog on the hookup!

REVIEW:2017 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball (BIG HIT)

We are headed back to 1968 and the burlap bag with 2017 Topps Heritage High Numbered.

High Numbered picks up where the Low Numbered ended this time bringing even more heat from this hot 2017 rookie class. Packs and blaster boxes at my local Walmart sold out in two days according to my father who always checks in with me before buying a product. It released and was gone.

Let's take a look at how I did in High Number Series and other details that will make you want to go out and buy one.

Every box of 2017 Topps Heritage High Number, it comes with 24 Packs Per Box and 9 Cards Per Pack. Boxes run $99 and come with either a Real One autograph or relic card per box.

Each box also comes with a Box Loader which you can find the following options,
  • 1968 Ad Panel
  • 1968 Poster Box Loader
  • 1968 Topps Originals
For the second box in a row, I pulled a 1968 original. These fall 1:3 boxes.

Here's the card,

The base set has the same burlap feel and approach as the original and as in Low Numbered series.

The base cards pick up where Low Numbered ended at 500 and run 501 to 725. Definitely one for those set collectors. Traded veterans and rookies that weren't in Low Numbered are found in here as well. Just like with past releases, the  last 25 cards are short-printed and inserted 1:3 packs.

Key Rookies in this product include, Cody Bellinger, Matt Olson, Amir Garrett, Reynaldo Lopez, Adalberto Mejia, Bradley Zimmer, Jorge Alfaro, Jose De Leon, Jordan Montgomery, Teoscar Hernandez, Ian Happ, Anthony Alford, and Blake Snell.

Here are some of the Sp's that fell 1:3 packs.

The best way to tell what you have is the last two digits in the code found at the back of the card on the way right. Base cards end in 23. Sp's above end in 33 like this:

Action Image Variations are the easiest to pull at 1:31 packs. Here was mine,

These end in 48.

Team Color Swap Variations are a bit tougher to pull falling 1:110 packs.

These end in 49.

Other variations to pull are,
• Errors Variations ends in 45
• Traded Variations ends in 46
• Throwback Variations ends in 47

There are also base card parallels that may be a bit tricky to spot. They are, Blue Bordered, Bright Yellow Backs, Gray Backs, and Flip Stock.

Chrome parallels return once again and once again I dig it. There should be a single product called Burlap Chrome. I know I would buy it. I pulled this guy who I feel is box stalking me for my chrome in the box.

There are parallels for them as well. They include,
  • Chrome Refractor Parallel #'d to 568.
  • Chrome Blue Bordered Parallel #'d to 68.
  • Chrome Gold Bordered Parallel #'d to 5
  • Chrome Superfractor Parallel #'d 1/1.
  • Chrome HOT BOX Refractor Parallel found in hot boxes one per pack!
Now onto the insert card offerings. A couple of the inserts I found a little lacking in design and creativity but the feel of them fits the rest of the product.

THEN & NOW:

Combo Cards:

Award Winners:

Rookie Performers:(my favorite design of the group. Now I need the Judge)

Nolan Ryan Highlights:

Now onto my hits. I wasn't surprised when this was the card I found halfway through my break. I don't normally pull autographs from this product and it's usually a single colored relic.

I have only once pulled a relic and that was actually this year from Low Numbered retail.

However, a few packs later. I pulled the toughest card I have ever pulled. I was actually in shock when I saw it. Falling at an incredible 1:92,949 Odds, which I think is the toughest from the product, was this card. Too bad it was a Yankees version but can't go wrong with these players either:
Yeah. Wow is what I be you are thinking.

Other hits to be found in this product include,

Clubhouse Collection Autographed Relics, Clubhouse Collection Dual Autographed Relics,REAL ONE Autographs, REAL ONE DUAL Autographs,1968 Poster Box Loader Autograph,Nolan Ryan Highlights Autographs,Clubhouse Collection Dual Relic, Clubhouse Collection Triple Relic, 1968 Baseball Cut Signatures and 1968 Celebrity Cut Signatures (I want one of these)

OVERALL, I can't complain about this break. Best Heritage break I ever have done. Key rookie cards all included, 2 hits, 1:110 color swap pull and a pretty solid insert finds too.

However, being just under $100 with only one hit, the product is a gamble and probably not for everyone. There are some big hits waiting to be found but the odds might be against you. There are a lot of fans who like this product and will pay the price and it's definitely a set builders dream. I suggest if you like what you see that you try retail first if you don't want to fork out hobby prices right now. I assume they will drop after the season, but they may go the other way as well with the rookie class.

Please make sure to take a minute out to thank Topps for providing this box for me to review as they help provide prizes for me to giveaway. Follow Topps on all social media sites and visit their SITE, as well

Trading With Pops And Killin' It

I have tweeted out a few times and even posted on here how I got my father back into collecting and how his collection in just a few years had far surpassed mine of 24 years.

For the first time since I got him back into collecting, we decided to pull off a trade.

There was a few rookie cards he was in need of and there was one card he had I desperately wanted. After a few minutes literally, we struck a deal.

First I will show you a card he tossed in for free, this is a tough to pull rubies insert from 98-99 Skybox Premium. There are only 25 of them made, which in today's collecting means nothing. but back then it meant a lot. It's also an insert I didn't have so I always welcome those additions.

Did I mention it was shiny??

Then came the card I desperately wanted and finally talked him out of to give up....a 1995 Sp Ken Griffey Jr Buyback auto. For being that old, the auto is still really sharp and the overall card to me pops. It's on one of my favorite Sp designs.

The card also comes with an authenticity paper which he put behind the penny sleeve in the top loader. I didn't take a picture of card back because of this.

I was happy to be able to trade with him as it brought back some good memories from my childhood when we would trade. We have discussed future trades down the road but not sure any of them will ever top this.

MLB PIck Em: Sept Winner, Playoff Teams

Wow. I can't believe how fast this promo came and went. Incredible. It was a fun year full of ups and downs, come backs, and twists and turns.

Now we are down with the season and heading for the playoffs!!

But, before I announce those, let's give a congrats to Irondequoit36 who took home September's prize pack. Two time in a row winner and he may be heating up going into the playoffs!! Please email me at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com within 48 hours to claim your prize!

Okay, the playoff teams are announced. Some fell just shy of making the playoffs. But, here are the remaining teams in the MLB Pick Em promo!

AL:
DIVISION WINNERS:
Scott N
Life's A Pitch
@funtocollect

WILD CARD TEAMS:
Kaiser Cats
Marty's Angels

NL:
DIVISION WINNERS:
Irondequoit36
@DavidMackey77
defgav's dumpster divers

WILD CARD TEAMS:
John Sharp
@SteveWrightOne

Thanks to everyone else who entered as well.

This is how the playoffs will work and it's as easy as it gets. For those of you in the Wild Card slots, you will face off against each other in a pick em. I will post the Wild Card Match-ups for your league as soon as they are announced. If you are in the NL, you pick the NL game. If you are in the AL, you pick the AL game. You will not only pick the winner, you will need the total amount of runs as well. I will post these rules again when I make the post for the playoffs.

The ones who won their divisions will have to wait to Wild Card is over. ONLY one team will advance from each Wild Card slot to the LDS to face the top team in the LDS.

With not much time in-between each playoff round, you will need to pay close attention to when I announce the match-ups. If you don't get in on time, well, you will be eliminated. You must enter before the start of each round.

Good luck to everyone, and Wild Card teams be ready to make your picks!

Oh yeah, before I forget, here is the World Series champions winnings!!!

One BCW Shoe House with 6 Shoe Boxes (HOUSE--6-SHOE), one box (20) Monster Pads (1-MPAD), and two packs of Tall Trading Card Dividers (1-TCD-TALL). Also a big box of cards with multiple autograph, jersey, patch and numbered cards.

Find these products at BCW here,

SI For Kids Cards September 2017

Here is my eleventh installment of this series.

I have been collecting SI For Kids cards for year and thought I would share them with you and help you decide if you should pick up the latest issue of SI For Kids for yourself.

Once again I found myself looking for Aaron Judge but came up empty on the card end anyways. However, his ROY counterpart Bellinger was found in here. This marked my first rookie card of his. There were also Oilers star Connor McDavid, Buc's WR star Mike Evans and a few other sport adds. Pretty solid month in my opinion.

Earlier I noted how I came up empty on Judge in the card end, but I didn't come up completely Judge-less. This poster in the middle was a nice touch.
Maybe in October we will find ourselves a Judge card just like we will find the Yankees in October.

Thoughts on this months cards are welcomed below.

REVIEW:2017 Topps WWE Women's Division

Another female-based wrestling release has slammed onto Walmart shelves again and is exclusively only to them. This products covers women from the WWE and NXT.

Let's check out this very quick review/break of the product.

Every blaster box of 2017 Topps WWE Women's Division comes with a good stack of cards and one hit. Blasters from what I can see run anywhere from $25 and up.

When you open up the blaster, instead of finding multiple packs, you find this....
I wasn't sure about this kind of packaging as I prefer opening up packs more, but it's still a fun dig through.

The 100 card base set is built upon two separate sets.

50 cards make up the Base Roster set which is a run down of all of the ladies from NXT, WWE and legendary WWE wrestlers. The design was the same one used for soccer this year.

The Base Matches and Moments Set showcases the ladies in action at main events. Some pretty nice shots taken. That can be taken in many forms :)

There are parallels to be found as well in the base set. I didn't pull any, but here are the options, Silver /50, Blue /25, Gold /10, and Red 1/1.

Without any inserts to be found in blasters, we now jump onto the one-per-box hit.

There are a variety of hits to be found from, Autographs, Kiss Cards (I really want one of these someday), Autographed Kiss Cards, Mat Relics, Mat Relic Autographs, Autographed Kiss and Mat Relic Book, Shirt Relic
and my hit,

Retired Women's Division Championship Commemorative Relic. Mine is a silver parallel /99.

It's a pretty cool looking relic. I think Topps does a great job with their manu-relics.

OVERALL, for the price of a blaster with much more hit options, if you are an WWE fan or just like collectin' the ladies, this is a fun affordable product. My only knack on it was it needed an insert set in blasters as well so it's not all base than a hit.

There are two insert sets but they can only be found in HANGER and FAT PACKS.

Pease make sure to take a minute out to thank Topps for providing this box for me to review as they help provide prizes for me to giveaway. Follow Topps on all social media sites and visit their SITE, as well

My First Gem

I have been wanting a card with a gem embedded for sometime. I don't know what it is about it, but I think it's pretty cool and unique. Something a bit more exciting than pulling a single color jersey card.

But, I can never pull one and many of my trading partners didn't own one. So I took to eBay to find my cheapest option. That came to my surprise in the form of the 90's....

Yes, the 90's.

I didn't know the 90's had Gem cards til I started seeing them pop up in my searches and they look pretty cool.

Back in 1997, Pro Line came out with a line of them called Gems Of The NFL. They were found in packs 1:24 inserted as redemptions that can be sent in to get a 23K gold card with an actual sapphire embedded into it.

When I saw this Terrell Davis for $2 I had to grab it. I needed my first gem card and here it is,

A picture of the gem closer

At the time I bought this,  last November, I had planned on building the set since most were affordable.  But, now, without hobby funds I haven't added any and don't see a chance to in the future unless via trade.

Thoughts on today's pretty sweet add is welcomed in comments!

The Letter(s) Of The Day

The Letter Of The Day is....THE REST!!

Finally after a 2-plus year search, I have finally added the rest of my Letterman to spell out Sport Card Collectors thanks to my buddy Jammin JD Sports Cards.

He not only got me the remaining missing letters, he got some really great names for them and put in extra effort in landing me some cool ones. We have Sam Cassell, Jermaine Gresham, and Greg Little.

Nick Van Exel and Otis Birdsong

And my favorite of the group, Larry Johnson. Not sure why it's my favorite, but it is.

I plan on putting all of my letters together soon and it will be my new header down the road. I am currently working on want list updates and many other fixes on here including posts.

Stay tuned!

A big thanks goes out to Jammin JD Sport Cards for helping me finish this set. Go give him a follow on Twitter and check out his website for card deals and more.
