Adding To My Legacy (Collection)

I have had quite a few mail days over the past couple of weeks but none of them dug back to my roots like today's card.

As many of you guys know I started collecting in the 90's and live and breathe by that era especially 95-99 which I consider the "best years of the hobby."

Why do I consider it that? Well, not only were there some amazing designs, top notch innovation, tons of buying and variety options, affordable high-end products and most of all, rare and tough to find inserts. Which is why a lot of these still hold their value today.

One of those tough to find inserts were the Legacy Parallels from 1998 Flair Showcase. I never pulled one and currently only own one I had traded for from Project Pedro Blog which was a basketball one. Now, I can say I own another thanks to @imqualifying who was posting a bunch of cards for sale but generously gave me this one knowing how much I wanted the card.

Marcus Nash wasn't a big splash out of the rookie class that had many Hall Of Famers, but that doesn't matter to me. Just owning another one of these is really awesome.

A big thanks goes out to @imqualifying for her generosity. I am blown away by it. This card now has it's officially last landing spot and fits nicely in my 90's PC.
I also suggest you go give her a follow and get into some of her sales as prices are cheap and she has a lot of great stuff to offer.

BASEically Awesome Part 12:2001 Topps Fusion Baseball

You wanna know what makes these BASEically combine 5 of my favorite Topps sets and fuse them into one.

You have Finest

Stadium Club with some action packed photography

Gold Label with all it's beauty

And Bowman's Best with lots of shinyness

What isn't there not to love? I actually still wished some of these designs and products existed today like Gallery.

There are 250 cards in the set and I would bet it is some challenge to put together and possibly one that set collectors who like a challenge may want to try.

So how many of you have tried to set collect this? Have any thoughts on a product like this combining many products? Let me hear them in comments!

REVIEW:Cryptozoic's Flash Season 2+GIVEAWAY!

If you liked the Flash that Cryptozoic brought in its Season 1 release of their trading card product for Flash, you shouldn't be for Season 2 either.

Picking up where Season 1 release ended, Barry in Season 2 now takes on metahumans with the help of S.T.A.R. Labs

So let's get to breakin!

Every box of Cryptozoic's The Flash Season 2 comes with 24 packs and 5 cards per pack. You should get one on-card autograph and one wardrobe card per box. Boxes are will run about $85.
Base cards are high gloss, top notch designed and capture key episode moments from Season 2. I think the design fits the theme of the show to a T.
There are 72 cards in the base set in which a box should provide you a set.

These are rainbow foil parallels I pulled. I don't see any details on odds on these but with 8 pulled, I assume 1:3. I really like these a lot and would make for a fun set chase. It adds a bit more flash to Flash.

Scarlet Speedster Deco Foil falls 1:8 packs. I only found 2 in my box however.

Not only do the base cards have parallels, but find them for the inserts as well in both rainbow foil and Scarlet Speedster Deco Foil.

Now onto the inserts. I really liked the bold cinematic images they captured along with the crisp designs and high gloss. They truly look great.

Metas fall 1:3 packs that consists of 9 cards. I completed the set and had a bonus card in my break.

Locations fall 1:3 packs and also have 9 cards in the set. I failed to complete this one falling just one short.

Quotable Cisco fall 1:3 packs and once again consists of 9 cards in the set. I completed this one as well.

Now flashing forward to the hits!

My first is of Wally West that is a piece of his wardrobe. It appears from this pic it's of his shirt.

And my on-card autograph. Should I mention it again that the product is all on-card?!! Yes!

Allison Paige as Eliza Harmon. Nice find in this box!
The overall list of Autograph Signers for Season 2 is:
Amanda Pays as Dr. Tina McGee
Andy Mientus as Hartley Rathaway
David Sobolov as Gorilla Grodd
Liam McIntyre as Mark Mardon / Weather Wizard
Logan Williams as Young Barry
Malese Jow as Linda Park
Michelle Harrison as Nora Allen
Patrick Sabongui as Captain David Singh
Peyton List as Lisa Snart
Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein
Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart
Adam Stafford as Geomancer
Adam Copeland as Al Rothstein
Allison Paige as Eliza Harmon
Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot
Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick
Rick Cosnett as Eddie Thawne
Marco Grazzini as Joey Monteleone
Katie Cassidy as Black Siren
Violett Beane as Jesse Wells
Casper Crump as Vandal Savage
Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak
Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk
John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen / Jay Garrick
Grant Gustin as Barry Allen / The Flash
Other hits not found in my break are, Dual Wardrobe Relics, Triple Wardrobe Relics and Printing Plates galore!

UPDATED INFO:I forgot to add this in the first time, but you can also find STR PWR cards. These were first found in Gotham Trading Cards season 2. The STR PWR cards are a new printing technology that Cryptozoic is calling "cast and cure technology" to add eye-catching prism/holographic effects to the cards. From what I see they look spectacular. However, not easy finds and come with a few parallels. Red versions are inserted 1:144 packs while Silver are 1:288 packs. There are even 2 more rarer versions in Gold that are numbered to 25 and Black that are numbered 1/1.

Overall, a pretty solid break in my opinion especially with the nice autograph pull. With a base set, some insert sets, parallels, some surprises and 2 hits it seems well worth the price if you like the show and if you compare it to some sports products that offer less for this price.
Season 2 is a tad higher in price than Season 1. However, singles go for a lot especially in the autograph department so even still if you want to get your hands onto some of these, I suggest a box break vs eBay buying singles.
To see even more images and info on the product, visit Cryptozoic HERE.

BASEically Awesome Part 11:2000 Ultra Football

Out of this entire series I will post, I think there are 15 or 16 parts, today's is probably my favorite.

I have always liked Ultra, I obviously like photography based cards and things that are shiny. 2000 Ultra combines all three of those.

What really does it the most for me is the action packed photography. It's amazing all throughout the 220 card set. Of course the main card that everyone is chasing from the product is the Brady rookie but if you open any or want to chase any of the other cards from your team you will not be disappointed.

Look at this Robinson. Sweet!

James Stewart looking for extra yards

TD Poole!!

He plays football to...just kidding..but Karim can jump!

And my favorite card of them all, Freeman's leap!

If this didn't make you run to ebay to search for your favorite teams....I think you need to relook at these again. Cause these are BASEically Awesome.

Thoughts on your favorite card above and the set are welcomed in comments!

Wrappers Of Collecting Past:2000 Upper Deck Pros And Prosepects

I don't have many memories of busting Pros and Prospects, especially this early, but I did bust it once in 2002 in retail form from Walmart and pulled the Prince Fielder XRC auto at the time. So that was a pretty big pull for $20.

But, never busted any 2000.

I do have the set however as this wrapper came along with the set I bought off a yard sale for $1. The sets normally sell under $10 so it wasn't much of a steal but it did help add a Griffey I needed so that was the most important part.

What about you guys? You bust any? Own any of the cards? Let me know in comments

Wrappers Of Collecting Past:1990 Score Football

Today I am featuring yet another pack I have left unopened to open on a rainy day.

This one is nothing fancy and is one of the many overproduced sets in the early 90's.

You can pretty much pick up packs of this for next to nothing in today's world and whole sets go for less than $7 everyday. Well, not that one is sold everyday but you get what I am talking about. It's probably also why I haven't dug right in yet and busted this one. It's more of a keepsake.

Let me hear your thoughts on this product in comments and what your favorite card from the set is

REVIEW:2017 Topps Inception Baseball

After seeing many previews of Topps Inception, I knew the product would look amazing. How amazing, well, that wasn't going to be known til the cards were in hand. Well, today, they were.

So if you think the box looks nice, wait til you see it's contents!

Each box of 2017 Topps Inception baseball comes with one pack. The one pack has 7 cards and the boxes are running around $70. With that amount of cards and price you are hoping each card is worth $10 or one or more has more value. Each box comes with one autograph.

The base cards were even more impressive in-hand. They burst off of the cardboard like a beautiful colorful painting. The cards themselves are printed on thick cardstock as well so that just adds to the impressiveness.

The checklist is 100 players deep with players of today and tomorrow.

Key rookies to find are, Aaron Judge, Yoan Moncada, Andrew Benintendi, Dansby Swanson, Alex Bregman, Yulieski Gurriel, Manny Margot, Trey Mancini, and Jorge Alfaro.

Parallels add an extra burst of color to the product. The outside "border" color differentiates what parallel is what. I landed two decent ones in Corey Seager and Miguel Cabrera.
Find the above parallels and the following:
  • Green Parallel
  • Purple Parallel #'d to 150
  • Magenta Parallel  #'d to 99
  • Red Parallel #'d to 75
  • Orange Parallel #'d to 50
  • Blue Parallel #'d to 25
  • Inception Parallel #'d 1/1
  • Printing Plates #'d 1/1

Now onto the one hit. I know, fast review huh? I will do my best to add as much info as I can.

I pulled a base rookie autograph magenta parallel of Matt Strahm. These are on-card.
  • Magenta Parallel #'d to 99
  • Red Parallel  #'d to 75
  • Orange Parallel #'d to 50
  • Blue Parallel #'d to 25
  • Inception Parallel #'d 1/1
Other hits not included in my box are,
Inception Silver Signings, Inception Legendary Debut Autographs, Inception Autograph Relic Cards
Inception Autographed Jumbo Patch Cards, Inception Autograph Team Logo Patch Book Cards
Inception Autograph Letter Patch Book Cards, Inception Autograph Laundry Tag Book Cards, and
Inception Autograph MLB Silhouetted Batter Logo Patch Book Cards. Most of these also have parallels.

OVERALL, I loved the look of the product. I have seen the other hits as well and those are just as/more impressive. However, with only one hit per box and the cost, you have to file this break under the risk taking one. Not every break will provide big boom while others will. It just depends on what box you land. I would strongly suggest if you like the look of the cards but don't wanna take the risk of breaking a box yourself, jump in on a box break with one of the many breakers out there. I suggest Top Shelf Breaks myself.
Please make sure to take a minute out to thank Topps for providing this box for me to review and to be able to add cards to the MLB Pick Em promotion. Follow Topps on all social media sites and visit their site, as well.

The Card I Have Wanted For 4 Years

My buddy @JGfan24ever struck again with set help and a surprise!

I knew he was sending some help for my 2014 Flair Football chase , but what I didn't know was about the extra card he tossed in.

Up first, my Flair set needs. I have officially completed the Row 2 set-thanks to him- and now have narrowed down the search for Row 1 even more thanks to @JGfan24ever.

With 11 more down, I am currently just 3 away from having the Row 1 set as well! I am quite impressed.  I am quite excited as I haven't completed a full set of anything newer in years as most of my set focus has been on the past which I will put a post about on a later date.

However, this Flair set brings back the past and present so this is my main new set chase right now.
And finally the card I have sought after for 4 years. I know it's a bit silly and most would laugh at me for wanting it, but it's a unique one of a kind card.
Introducing the 2013 Score Leon Sandcastle rookie card done in the glorious 1989 Score design:
If you don't remember anything about this card or the player, leading up to the 2013 NFL Draft, NFL Network's and former NFL Player Deion Sanders made some promo's starting in the commercials for Super Bowl XLVII featuring the fastest and most impressive player of that NFL Draft, Leon Sandcastle. They made it appear as if Sandcastle would be the Chiefs #1 pick that year because "Leon doesn't jump, Leon flies".
Nobody in that draft could do what Leon could. Actually, taking a look back at that draft now, Leon would have been the obvious number 1 pick because of that poor year.
The promo's were so popular, that Panini decided to make a card of him in the 2013 Prestige (I want this version too) and the 2013 Score products. There were autograph versions as well. I am not sure how tough any of these cards were to pull, but I busted plenty of Score and Prestige and never saw a single one.

You can see this card crossed off my want list and the Prestige one still on there and the rest of my complete want list of cards and toys HERE.

A big thanks goes out to @JGfan24ever for the set help and for the Sandcastle. Please give him a Twitter follow if you haven't yet, great guy.

For a couple of weeks, Wes over at Willinghammer Rising, ran a Big Fun Game contest for a couple of weeks. It was something that was hosted by a previous blogger that Wes started up again.

I was curious what kinda game this was but in order to do that you had to be drafted into it first, luckily I was. The game itself come to find out, was simply picking a random number that was attached to a certain card you didn't know about or stealing someone else card who had picked before you or the worst part, someone could steal yours after you.

I sadly experienced that twice but will admit I did one prize steal myself.

I was 5th overall in the card draft. Not a bad spot as a few picked ahead of me for me to steal from but not the best either as 11 picked behind me meaning a steal could easily happen. My first pick at 5 was stealing a box of mystery goods. I was hoping nobody else would take it as a mystery is so exciting but within a pick it was gone. My next selection I went with lucky number 13 which was very lucky landing me a Topps Ripken rookie. But, once again, it was stolen. So I finally said, well, Eli Manning #10 give me some luck.

Here is what it landed me....
A one of a kind JBF auto from Wes himself!

These cards were extras he tossed in

More extras...

A few more extras including 2 Ricky Williams rookies and an Odell Topps one.

More extras with these 4 cool oddball baseball cards. Gotta love the oddballs.

These extras are from the Topps Walking Dead base set that will be my first Topps Walking Dead cards for my non-sport PC.

And to finish up the extras he tossed in, some cool non-sport items. My favorite of the group has got to be Robin Williams with FLUBBER!

This was my actual prize winning, three autograph cards. One of which I can easily see in someone else PC. Hint Hint you know who you are :)

Oh yeah. There was one more extra which is also now my oldest Giants card I own....

a 1956 Topps Bob Schnelker rookie card
A big thanks goes out to Wes for the mail day and all of the extras. I appreciate it and for allowing me to participate in the BFG.

Thoughts on my mail day are welcomed below!
