Mail Day Saturday: Every Time I Look At This I Don't Go Blind

Today is the final part of my latest trade mail day with 90's Niche Football Card Blog. One I have been extremely excited about showing off.

As you have seen on here, I have busted a couple boxes of 2014 Panini Country Music hoping to find myself a Darius Rucker autograph and never had any luck in doing so.

Rucker, for those of you who may not remember, was the lead singer of one of my favorite groups of the 90's in Hootie And The Blowfish before deciding he wanted to crossover to country music. Honestly, with my dislike of country music, I haven't even heard one of his country songs so I am not sure if he is even any good at it.

In my mind, he is and always will be Hootie.

When 90's Niche Football Card Blog and I discussed the possibility of helping me acquire an autograph of his, we were looking at doing his basic auto from the product, but when a autograph silhouette came up for cheaper, he helped snag it for me and we made a deal for it.

I was beyond excited to add this one to the PC. Maybe I will even still bust some of the 2014 Country Music because it is so cheap just to see if I can land the other autograph of his from the product.

A big thanks goes out to 90's Niche Football card blog for the overall trade. With his help, I got the Rucker auto, I got my Psych set complete and was able to add some cool Giants cards. Another big trade complete for us and from what I can tell, another one will more than likely build up down the road.

Thoughts on today's pickup are welcomed in comments!

2 Years Later: The Sort Is Done

Two years. That's how long it took to un-sort to re-sort 23 years of collecting base cards for four sports changing them from a by year, by brand, by number to simply by team and by key players from each team.

I was trying to find a way to simplify the way I collect. Especially since I don't set collect as much as I used to. The sets I put together and ones I am still trying to do were kept intact.

The one thing that was most helpful during this two year project was my 2 BCW Sorting Trays. Not sure I could have completed this big project without them. Or at least in the two years.

They helped take this ....

Turn it into this.....

Which in the end, turned into this...

Which later turned into this. Baseball teams each got their own 800 ct box.

Football, hockey and basketball were put into bigger 4 or 5 row boxes. The players for each sport I pulled got their own 4-5 row boxes as well.

In the end, I can't tell you the amount of cards I sorted as I don't even know that. But, the years were focused on 89-now. You know how it is when you load up on the junk wax years.

What I can tell you for numbers was the breakdown of key players I yanked for each sport:
Baseball 80 players
Football 110 players
Basketball 60 players
Hockey 20 players

I didn't yank all of the stars as I mainly focused on offensive players more than defensive. Not a lot of collectors care much pitchers and defensive lineman.

I am just glad to have this project done as I have many others I want to tackle next including sorting my baseball rookies by team. Once again, that may take awhile from all of the junk wax rookies I have.

So now I wanna hear what your most challenging sorting project ever was? Let me know in comments!

HOBBY TOPIC:Custom Cards

Here is how Hobby Topic works if you don't remember

Just leave a comment or thought below on the following.

Today's Topic is
Custom Cards

Do you collect custom cards? Do you buy them or just trade or make them? What's the most you have or would be willing to spend on a custom card? When collecting them, do you consider them apart of your player/team PC or do you call them something else (this part I am wondering for myself)

Please make sure it's clean for our younger audience.

BASEically Awesome Part 4: 1995 Sp Baseball

Collectors may differ when it comes to teams and what they collect, but one thing collectors can all agree on is Upper Deck's amazing photography. I haven't found a collector yet who hasn't agreed that they were the best.

Today's BASEically Awesome segment shows just why.

I must also mention before continuing on, even the design is nice. I dig the holographic appeal of blue and red that run down the sides of the cards.

Even Mark agrees with me and is giving them a hand for a job well done.

Ray is flipping over the photography and Heathcliff is all smiles.

The unique perspective they had taking photos is something that is also catchy. It wasn't just baseball action, it also was the fun off the field or before the game they captured.

Alex is caught signing for fans while Roberto has his inner Richard Simmons coming out.

Phil Nevin is ready for lights, camera action while Rod Beck hopes to "punch out" the batters in relief.

Steve is snagging a catch to the wall while Doug is staring down the batter.

And these are only some of the 207 cards in the base set.

The set wasn't known for it's value/popularity like the previous years before it with 1993 and Jeter and 1994 with Rodriguez. But, what it should be known for is what you see above. Baseball fun at it's finest and a set that may be Upper Deck's most impressive for base cards.

What do you think? Where does this set rank to you when it comes to fun-baseball-loving photography?

Mail Day Saturday:Who Dey?

I have been following @clairedabear85 on Twitter for awhile now entering her many NFL related contests as she is a huge football fan. And as you guys know, so am I.

One of her recent contests was for a mystery envelope that she put together and forgot the contents. I was hoping the mystery had some NY Giants involved but I was happy either way because a lot of her items are from the International NFL games from the UK as that's where she is from. So any of those items would be unique for the man cave.

With the package having to cross the ocean, it took a couple of weeks but arrived safely to my mail box on Wednesday. I couldn't wait to rip it open to uncover the mystery.

Inside, I could see there was a theme. A Bengal theme which was based off from last seasons Bengals Vs Redskins game in October. One that was a thriller til end with nobody winning in the 27 all tie. It may have been one of the best games ever played in the UK to date.

So let's see what was sent.

Here is a mini pennant, a couple of tats and a window sticker.

This item I loved. A unique mini flag from the event. This will look awesome in the man cave.

Up next, AJ McCarron rookie card from Rookies And Stars.

Then a pretty sweet Bengals cheerleader poster with some pics signed. I am not sure how my wife will feel about this in the man cave, but that's where it's going haha

And to close this out, autograph of future star AJ McCarron which a lot of teams have been high on for awhile. I just wished he could get out there and play. This goes along a few other autographed cards of him I have I've been sitting on. I dig the silver ink signing. I asked @clairedabear85 about the auto and she said he signed it at a store signing right in front of her so it's pretty solid.

A huge thanks goes out to @clairedabear85 for the goodies and if you are not following her and this above doesn't give you enough reason to..well....your loss. I think many have questioned her if any international winners ever happen and I can say yes, just read this post.

Thoughts on my mail day are welcomed in comments!

Mail Day Saturday:Trade With 90's Niche Football Card Blog Part 2

Throughout this week, you have been treated to my Psych autograph card pickups from 90's Niche Football Card blog and you were even shown my biggest hobby accomplishment yet, today, I continue to roll out this big mail day.

But, this isn't quite the finale yet, next Saturday one card is left that had be shown by itself because it's a Hoot!

Now onto Part 2 of the big part of the trade.

I saved the key relics and autographs in our trade to show off this week.

Four new Eli Manning relics start us off. I totally love the Fabric Of The Game with the relic being under the Giants wording.

Yes, another Eli. This time paired up with Tiki.

Did I say Tiki? Why yes I did. A sick Tiki Fabric Of The Game /25. I like the jersey along with the design. It shows how tightly woven jerseys are now compared to then.

Up next, a future superstar in Paul Perkins. Giants are very high on this guy and I think if the Oline gives him the space, he could make a major impact in the NFL.

This card was featured over at Snagging Cardboard in it's inaugarual week. If you haven't checked out that blog yet, do so. All of my future NY Giants pickups will only be featured on there.

And we finish it up with a pink Prizm Shepard auto. I dig Prizm, really sharp parallels. It's still not a Chrome replacement, but closing in on it.

Part 2 brought some major boom to the party. Next weeks finale of my most recent trade with 90's Niche Football Card Blog is just one card, but it's pretty cool and brings me back to the 90's somewhat. What is it? Well, come back and see then!

Psych Week Day 5: THE COMPLETION!

Today kicks off Psych Week which will showcase my autograph adds from my trade with 90's Niche Football Card Blog.

Today's finale is one I have been waiting to reveal for two months.

If you didn't notice all week, I never said how close I was to completing this 25-card Psych autograph set. Well, that's because with this card right here of Dule Hill (who I have noted before has his biggest roles of The West Wing and Psych as Shawn Spencer's sidekick),
I have finally done it. I have completed the entire 25-card Psych Seasons 5-8 autograph set!!!!!!! My biggest hobby accomplishment yet. One that I couldn't have done without Bryan over at 90's Niche Football Card Blogs help.

Not only did he help me accomplish the 25-card set, I even was able to add the 26th card, dual autograph of Dule and James Roday.

BOOM!!

Here is a look at all of the other 24 cards in the set

What's my next challenge? Well, I have considered chasing down the seasons 1-4 set but that will be really tough. Autographs were much tougher to pull in that season but I have a solid start. However, that won't be a cheap chase by any stretch so I may work on another project then revert back to that when I can.

Here are the ones I am missing for that Seasons 1-4 set. The lined out ones mean I have.
James Roday
Dulé Hill
Corbin Bernsen
Kirsten Nelsen
Timothy Omundson
Rachael Leigh Cook
Sage Brocklebank
Ally Sheedy
Robert Patrick
George Takei
Jaleel White

Thoughts on my completed set are welcomed in comments. Would love to hear which card is your favorite from the set as well and while you are at it, let me know if you have ever completed an autograph set?
