Jaybarkerfan's Holiday Tradeathon Mail Day

Wes over at Jaybarkerfan's Junk recently held a tradeathon where he posted up 5-10 cards daily and you really had to make sure you got there in time to snag what you wanted. The challenge of it was you could only claim up to 5 items and it went for two weeks. Try your patience and gambling with that!!

I had claimed three items up until the last day thinking that the best for last scenario would come into play, which I was right, but I didn't quite get there in time on the last day as a couple of pretty cool things jumped on the final post (I missed out on claiming a few others cause I gambled and waited) but I did manage to still snag some cool stuff.

Up first, those sweet 90's items. A Jerry Rice acetate insert, a Troy Aikman Pinnacle Mint coin (always love these), a sweet looking Joey Galloway from Zenith and a freebie pack that he tossed in.

Then some sweet Dan Marino inserts, yes once again from the 90's. The Run And Gun has a player on the other side and is numbered.

Up next, a Griffey that is bolony. No, really. It's an Oscar Mayer 1994 Superstar Round-Up bolony disk. I hadn't seen these before. Cool addition. Gotta snag the oddballs when you can. I am not sure what Griffey this makes me as I need to figure out some new numbers once my checklist is done.

Finally, a card I snagged on Day 1. A oversized 25/25 eBay 1/1 Rueben Randle patch from Inception. The card looks great, all but the 00 on the jersey. That always bothers me.
A pretty solid mail day in my opinion. Covered many PC areas. A big thanks goes out to Wes and I hope you like what I sent in return along with the mini boom pack in the second package.

No Sport Card Mail Day

As you have seen many, many times before on here, Sport Card Collectors reader Grady M has sent me some amazing mail days and this time is no different. Well, it's a bit different. This time there was no cards (two days later those arrived so stay tuned for that). This time were some cool collectible items I plan on displaying.

Up first, a Sprite Welcome Home LeBron sign. Pretty cool. Will put it with my poster in the man cave. Also, a Hall Of Fame newspaper insert.

Up next, a Dale Jr Hero Card. Great pic! I plan on putting it with my other hero cards.
Up next, some really cool items. With Grady living where he does and being a Cowboys fan, he went to the Cowboys/Browns game and got me the game day poster from that but even cooler his kids went to the Giants/Browns game a few weeks later and got me two copies of that one....

Along with the tickets from the game. I think these will look great displayed with the rest of my Giants stuff despite a Brown being on the ticket.

A huge thanks goes out to Grady and his kids for their generosity. This is only the beginning as I got cards a few days later from a trade we did along with plenty of fun bonuses. Stay tuned for that long, long series of posts!

Grand Prizes For The SCC/Topps Collector Of The Year

This is by far not everything that will be in this lot, but here is a scratch of the surface. (the early prizes in this contest are prizes I added at the end of the year along with ones that were never claimed)

There are others I can't remember along with some numbered and regular inserts too!

Blank Back parallel of this guy:

Garrett Richards 2016 Tribute Autograph (will update with pic)

I will update this and re-post it every few months to try and lure you in to enter this. All I can say is that the GRAND PRIZE winner will be very happy.

There are smaller monthly prizes to win as well.

Currently only TWO people are in for January. Yes, TWO. I am expecting at least 20 entries. AT THE VERY LEAST. If this doesn't pick up or catch on with this post, I will nullify the contest completely and go back to by-review giveaways. Especially if I only get two entries and it would be one month and done.

Here are the details on how to enter to win these and monthly prizes. You would be crazy not to enter!!

Christmas Set Help With Flair

If you have read my blog before, you would have read how many times I have mentioned @JGfan24ever name on here from Twitter. You would also know he is a pretty good dude.

This time that good dude had busted some boxes of 2014 Flair Football from his Black Friday purchases and I inquired about if he had any I could use for my set. He checked and then said DM my address.

So these arrived last week taking a huge chunk of needs from Flair 2014 including finally finishing up my Row 2 set. You can find the rest of my needs, HERE.

And adding the one Beckham card I didn't have from the set. Looks pretty cool too.

And if he hadn't already done enough, he sent this along as the Christmas gift. Such a great guy.

A big thanks goes out to @JFfan24ever on this mail day to help me towards my set and for the extra gift. I am beyond blessed to know ya. It was definitely some hobby love you have shown me!

Speaking of hobby love, who has shown you some recently and what did you get?

Hook 'Em Ross

I am a bit behind on some posts but I can't let some just slip under the rug. Like this sweet contest win I got over at Sports Card Info blog.

I won this 2007 Press Pass Legends All Conference Red Ink Auto #’ed/285 of former Giants CB, Aaron Ross. Ross was Drafted 20th overall in the 2007 draft and was on the Super Bowl winning 42 and 46 teams.
After winning the Super Bowl with the Giants in 46, he signed a decent contract with the Jaguars but his career never really got very far after leaving NY. Injuries took a toll.
But, I am excited to add my first Ross auto to the Giants PC. Especially since he was there during the two Super Bowl runs.
A big thanks goes out to Sports Card Info on the contest win mail day and if you haven't checked him out yet, please do so. Weekly contest, reviews and other fun segments.

Step Back, I Ripped One

Yesterday, I got a Holiday Blasted by Baseball Card Breakdown in my mail box. It was awesome to say the least.

I took the pics of his Holiday Blast on my table with the colorful Christmas table cloth in the background to give it that Christmas feel. I also didn't crop them well on purpose so it shines the holiday spirit through.

Up first, some new Yanks including a custom, something shiny and a Godzilla I didn't have. Also included in this group is a new David Wilson rookie. I believe Strata had two designs for rookies that year and this is the version I still needed.

Next group, one of my favorite pics in the Odell "The Catch" done in my favorite product, Chrome. A salsa dancing x-factor in Cruz, an Andre Brown rookie and an Eli Triple Threads that's numbered.

Then onto a couple Giants hits that I didn't have. New Manningham and new DJ Hall autograph. I think I only have one other of his. Both are rookies.

And finally, my first rip card. I haven't ever pulled one or bought one even though I have always wanted to. It actually may be on my hobby bucket list.

I haven't decided whether I would ever rip one if I got one, probably not as that would totally dig into my hobby OCD and the mystery can be fun, but I it would be fun to at least have one.

I did however get to have an opportunity to rip a custom rip card thanks to Gavin. Even though that was tough to do in more than one way with that hobby OCD and the fact that he sealed these up really well.
But, I did get into it so let's take a look:

Here is the front:

Here is the back /25 as he sent out 25 packages. I have seen some of the others pulls from within so I knew it had to be good.

(inserted here was a pic of the ripped contents but my blog decided it didn't want to upload it)
And I was right.  A custom mini magnet of the man, the legend, KGJr!
A big thanks goes out Gavin for this sweet mail day and for my first fun rip experience. You definitely have one of the most creative minds in the blogosphere.
I have begun setting some stuff aside for you down the road. You just never know when I will mail it :)

SI For Kids Cards December 2016

Here is my second installment of this series.

I have been collecting SI For Kids cards for year and thought I would share them with you and help you decide if you should pick up the latest issue of SI For Kids for yourself.

This months, we have a bit weaker of an issue with Kris Bryant being the headliner here, but I think owning cards from these other sports including golf that doesn't have cards on the market right now is huge. I still have my rookies from these guys you can see here, (Hottest Golf Cards Right Now)
Thoughts on this months cards are welcomed below.

SCC/Topps Monthly Promo January 2017

I would hope by now you heard the great news I announced yesterday, if not, just take a quick scroll back to yesterday and the big announcement on the promo I will be running all of 2017.

Here are the details for month one and how you can become SCC/Topps Collector of the month in January!:
  • This promo is ONLY open to U.S. Residents or those who have a shipping address in the U.S.
  • Deadline for a January submission will be December 31st 2016 by 8 pm e.t.
  • You MUST have an email to me at by that date with your picture of you/your pet/loved one/or just your favorite TOPPS card or cards and a name for your picture to be included in January. The more creative the better so people will vote for you.
  • If you miss the deadline posted above, you will have to wait til February to enter.
  • I will post the pictures up as soon as I can for the votes to start. I will keep the entry link to the top right of the blog just above the voting after posting it so visitors can see which one they want to vote on.
  • You can promote people to vote on you anyway you like. Whether you blog it, tweet it, Facebook it, forum it, etc. There are no limitations on this and no limitations on the amount of these you do.
  • Winner will be announced after a couple of weeks of voting, in case of a tie, I will be the deciding vote and make note of who I voted for and why.
  • Winner for the month of January will get a shot at a big grand prize lot for SCC/Topps Collector Of The Year that will take place in December.
  • Everyone who didn't win in January, automatically move onto February to compete against the others from January and possible new entries for February. You may submit a new picture if you would like, if not, I will just carry over what I already have.
  • Prizes will vary in size, sport and what they are per month depending on what Topps reviews I receive.
Good luck in your entries and I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

A Bump And Run Surprise!

This month has probably been the best mail day month of the year. I have been waiting on a few packages to show up, some great ones that have, but one arrived unexpectedly earlier last week.I am just a bit behind in posting a few things.

Trevor over at Bump and Run Football Cards sent me some surprise "Christmas" cards. Can't ever go wrong with getting surprises :-D

First he included some of what I feel are the most important lyrics from the hymn "O Little Town Of Bethlehem."

He also included one of my favorite insert sets from Topps. Perspectives. I don't have the Tex one yet so it's a new PC add. Really like the angle on his card.

Up next, a numbered Ramiro Pena Topps rookie card.

Then a sick camo prizm of Cruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzzz

And finally a /100 Eli Manning Bravery parallel from Panini football.
A Merry Christmas and thanks goes out to Trevor. I appreciate your generosity for the sweet cards. You actually beat me to my plans of surprising some people I had addresses of as I ran out of time in my sorting process.
Let me know in comments if Trevor surprised you and what you got!

2017 SCC/Topps Collector Of The Month/Year Promotion

It looks like it's time to let the cat out of the bag as 2017 approaches.

For a few months now, I have been planning a fun event for 2017 with my Topps reviews. I do like the contests I host per review, but I thought I would amp it up a bit and have more fun with it. Especially since 2017 marks the 5th year of Sport Card Collectors.

So instead of doing a per review contest, I will have one contest a month. Before you freak out, continue reading.

Here is how this is going to work.
  1. I will pull prizes from my reviews for the month and set them aside for one winner. So prizes will vary on size and content depending on what I receive.
  2. To enter, you guys will need to submit to me at the following. A photo of your Topps card collection or your favorite Topps card. You can be in the photo or you can take a photo of it. You can have your kids be involved. You could have your spouse have fun with it. You can take it from your rooftop. You can dress up with it.You can be as creative as you want to be as part 3 is very important. I will also need a name for the picture or your name. It's up to you.
  3. After submitting me a picture by the deadline I give (I won't take late entries), I will post up the pictures I get and readers will decide who wins for the month. This is why you have got to be creative. There will be a poll on the right side of the blog for readers to vote on their favorites. I will list those by the names you submit to me.
  4. Voting will go for at least a couple of weeks that way people have time. I will allow voters the access to vote on more than one picture.
  5. Contestants who don't win for the month, move onto the next month with possible new entries who wanted to enter or maybe didn't make the previous months deadline. Then it starts over again.
  6. You are more than welcomed to spread the word however you want to get people to vote on you. Put it in a blog post, post it on Twitter daily or even two or three times. Post it on Facebook, forums, wherever you can or want to.
  7. The bonus part of being a Topps Collector Of The Month other than receiving that monthly prize, you will also be entered in a grand prize voting in December for Topps Collector Of The Year where readers will vote on all of the monthly winners to narrow it down to one.
  8. The Grand Prize will be for a healthy stack of cards that I will set aside or have started to already.
  9. The contest starts in January and runs til November giving 11 entrants a chance in December for the grand prize.
  10. As with my other contests and I really do apologize for this, due to finances I can't afford to ship outside the U.S. I have had some outside the U.S. offering to pay for shipping, but I don't accept that for many reasons. Sorry. So this promo is ONLY OPEN TO U.S. RESIDENTS or to those who live outside the U.S. with a U.S. address.
Most importantly, have fun with it and I really look forward to seeing what you submit. I know Topps does too. Also good luck to all of you  and remember to thank Topps for providing the reviews so that I can have some prizes to award and I wouldn't mind a thanks as well for the hard work it will take to put this together :)

(stay tuned tomorrow for the first deadline announcement)
