More To Show!

Awhile back, I put up a post on some autographs that I was questioning if they were real or fake and in that ARTICLE I mentioned how one of my former teachers contacted me and asked if I was interested in some of her son's cards and no doubt I was. So here is more, still lots to go, of what I got from that lot and today's focuses on cards I found not in binders.

The overall lot had some decent finds, the only problem is, a good portion of the cards in this lot were in really rough shape. So a lot I had to take out what I wanted and found a home for the rest. Despite the bad corners on this Tim Duncan, I just couldn't let it go. It's one of very few damaged cards I held onto.

Up next was a Cliff Floyd Classic Best graded card

Then a 2001 Topps Debut #d rookie of Santana Moss

And finally, the card that caught my attention first and possibly the most out of the entire lot, a 1997 Pinnacle Epix Moment purple parallel of the one and only Brett Favre. This is also framed and now hanging in the man cave. Not sure if I will keep a sweet card like this in the frame too long for fear of it getting ruined, but I may.
I was pretty excited about these finds and the many others coming up in future posts which I hope you come back to check out as well. Stay tuned!

You Just Never Know.....

When tearing apart my collection looking for some trade cards, I ran into a few cards I didn't know I had. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to have found them. It also leads me to wonder what else I may have forgotten about. If I find more, I will post them, but in the meantime, enjoy what I found this time.

A 2012 Panini Contenders Richard Sherman rookie card. I may not like the guy, but he is a dominant player and a rookie card I needed.

Then I discovered what some may call a rarity, 1991 Topps Desert Shield cards in MINT condition of Gary Sheffield and

Fred McGriff.
It has been said that only 6.500-7,000 sets of these cards were produced and were given out to only troops involved in the first Gulf War. So there may not be many of these that made it home in great condition. So finding some first was a surprise, but finding them in such great condition was an added bonus.

After finding these I strongly believe I need to revisit a few boxes of stuff I haven't looked through in awhile. Who knows what I may find and if I do find something, I will definitely show you guys!

Have you ever looked through your collection and found something you didn't know you had? What was it? Or are you going to look through yours now? Let me hear it!

WHAT'S IN THE BOX??!!!! I yelled, well, quietly yelled to myself making a movie reference from the ending of Seven. Cause honestly like Brad Pitt, I had no idea what was inside this shoe box.

So cautiously hoping not to find a head, I opened the box and found many scrap papers, trash and some hobby items. Yes, buried within this box were some hobby items I had forgotten about. So for fun, I thought I would come up with a new segment to show you what I found.

The very first hobby item I found in the box was an uncut, well it was cut from the back of the box, Olympic cards from the back of a Frosted Flake box. These were released recently in 2012 and were given to me by family members who know my love of collecting and collecting anything that is on cardboard.

I have held onto them, mostly cause I forgot, but will still continue to as they may be something more valuable down the road.

Here is the front of the cards.

The back.
Stay tuned for more surprises from THE BOX. There are 7 parts in all and a little bit of everything including an auto from a "hobby celebrity". Come back to see!

2015 Gypsy Queen WINNINGS....YOU GOTTA SEE EM!

Do you ever just see an amazing contest you want to win and when you actually do, your jaw drops in awe with excitement? Well, that just happened to me.

Mario over at Wax Morgue Blog was hosting a contest and was giving away ALL of the HITS from his box of 2015 Topps Gypsy Queen baseball. To my surprise, he announced my name on Twitter as the winner of the card lot. And it was quite the lot to say the least and I think you will agree as you read on.

So let's start this mail day off with some minis....

Big Mac mini...

Both of these mini's are numbered to 199....(the Mcgee doesn't have a crease. It's the way I took the picture)

This framed is numbered to 499.

As we continue on, we are starting to dig into the "hits" of the box. This one is a Shelby Miller relic.

I really liked this one, it's a framed mini relic of Ventura. I am always a big fan of framed relics.

Nice looking autograph that Matt Joyce has. On-Card too!

Yes, I understand I should have put this with the other minis...but it's a black parallel numbered 4/5 so that puts it at another level. It's also one for my Yanks PC of the high-leg kicking El Duque!!

Up next is a Gypsy Queen Glove Stories 1/1 Printing Plate of Steven Souza Jr. I love collecting printing plates!

And finally a HUGE hit in my opinion, a redemption card for an autographed relic of Giancarlo Stanton. That guy is simply swinging away and someone, other than Mike Trout, I have been wanting an autograph of!

I have already redeemed this and currently staring at my computer hoping for it to arrive already. I am pretty stoked about this card if you couldn't tell.

Just when you think that was the end of the winnings, he also threw in a couple of real sweet bonus cards because of the delay in shipping the prize.

Awesome Chuck Liddell fighter worn memorabilia. This is going straight to the PC and so isn't this....

RONDA ROUSEY!! I have always wanted a card of her and with a relic one being my first, I am definitely not complaining.
Overall, this was an extremely generous mail day and one I am still in awe with. Thanks again to Mario over at Wax Morgue Blog for the awesome cards. If you haven't checked out his blog yet, please do so. Plenty of fun stuff to read and great giveaways too!

As a bonus note, whenever the Stanton arrives I plan on posting a pic so stay tuned for that!

A big thanks goes out to @CollectTheHobby for this contest mail day (very quick shipping of one day) of a Adam Jones relic from 2015 Topps Tier One!! It's my first card of importance of Jones in my collection so it now has a good home.

FIVE STAR Trade Mail Day From @sportcards1027

Last week I was messaged by @sportcards1027 and was asked if I was interested in making a trade for some Giants he pulled from 2014 Five Star football. Having seen the picture of his pulls ahead of time and what I would be trading for, without hesitation I agreed to work out a trade.

It didn't take us long to figure out a trade and for the both of us to feel satisfied with it. In his part of the trade, he landed some sweet autographed 8x10's I had listed in my Trading Block tab on the blog. I must also note that I have pulled that tab due to the lack of trade bait right now. I may bring it back when I have more up for trade.

Anyways, my mail day from him was exactly what the product states, it was Five Star! You will see why in a second.

First up, is a redemption rainbow parallel autograph of Giants RB Rashad Jennings. And yes, I know it's a redemption and I know it's a Topps one, but I have had great return success in the few Topps redemptions I have sent in. By the way, I have already entered it so wish me luck on a great return rate for this one too!

Up next for my Andre Williams PC, a new autograph. I really like the design. I hadn't seen Five Star up close til now.

And my final card of the mail day was the one I wanted the most. This card was even more beautiful in person (the silver ink on the black is amazing) and it's my first autograph of this player....Welcome home Eli Manning! You are not going anywhere.
A HUGE thanks goes out to @sportcards1027 for the trade and for being a great trading partner.

If you are not following him yet on Twitter please do so! He has an upcoming giveaway you don't wanna miss.

90's Flashback:1999 Topps Late Bloomers Trevor Hoffman

If you don't appreciate your love of late 90's inserts on cardboard, you must get yourself checked into a hobby clinic. Cause honestly, there must be something wrong with you.

Topps produced some fun stuff in the late 90's and made some really sought after inserts, sadly it's not like that anymore, but they used a lot of fun colors, swirls and more. Late Bloomers is just one of the many inserts they added this kind of amazing looks too. Season's Best was another that I will share soon too.

In the meantime, enjoy this cards beauty!

Breakin Wax:1997 Edge Masters Football 1-Pack Break

If you remember my post a few weeks back, you will remember that I got some 90's packs in a trade on Twitter. Well, now it's time to reveal the goods from one of them! The other breaks will soon be coming, but I am starting with this one first.

In every pack of 1997 Edge Masters football, there are 6 cards per pack and most packs can be found for under $3. There are chances at Playoff and Super Bowl GameBall cards.

The base cards have a light foil with an "exploding fireworks" design in the back. Makes for a fun design if you are into futuristic looks. My biggest nitpick on the design is the players last name across the top. It gets lost in the explosion. A different color may have helped bring those out better.

Here was my best player pull of the pack and you can see a better up-close pic of the name and what I was saying about it getting lost.

I also landed a PC card. I always liked watching Calloway play. I can only imagine how much better his career could have gone if he had Eli for his QB.
Overall, the Sanders and Calloway were good finds in this pack and to me if I had bought it, would have been worth it.
