MLB World Series Team Results!

We know there was some confusion with our contest rules. We had people picking teams, not realizing that the contest is open to US Residents only (all of our contests are like this due to shipping costs and a couple of bad experiences with shipping out of country. We apologize profusely for this rule but we have got to keep it in place) below every contest post it says this. If any of participants in group one missed this direction please let us know.

Now onto the good news! Here are the 30 involved in our World Series promo! If we get more entries, great! We will start a second group. But the group would have to hit 30 to count. But if it did we would award two prizes. So keep spreading the word and enter!

You have randomized this list 3 times.

Now what happens, is the first person on the list gets to pick ANY MLB team they think will win the World Series. Once that team has been chosen, they are off the list. Then the next person chooses a team and so on. Please do not pick a team until it is your turn. We will publish any team selections immediately so you will know whos been chosen.

As for the prize, we will hopefully post a picture on here soon. Look for updates we will post when we have a prize lot picture ready.

Good Luck and get your teams selected below here in comments. First pick, @Seahawksfan605 you are up first!

Trade on Twitter...

Recently made a great trade with a great guy I found on Twitter known as . If you haven't followed him yet, you should. Loves to talk sports and the hobby. I don't normally trade and usually when approached I tell them that. But I do consider it sometimes. Its hard to know who to trust in this online world without going to specific sites such as Beckett to let you know if the person is a good trader or not.

This time with a persistent inquiry about this card I decided to take the chance. Glad I did despite some ups and downs with it. By this I mean the USPS system almost killed this trade and my reputation by almost losing my card. His cards to me got to me within 3 days, mine took over a week and the tracking for mine never showed up until the day of delivery. And because of this, I don't think I will trade again online with the risk of it almost being lost. I may reconsider again in the future, but for right now I probably won't.But it was great that understood and waited.

This is the one that he wanted desperately for his Topps Chrome auto collection and rookie QB PC. So he threw me a few offers and we were able to come to terms after I gave it much, much thought because I really did like this card. So he got the Osweiler Black refractor auto #25 and a few Topps Chrome refractor set needs and I got the following:

New Rueben Randles to increase the PC:

Another Eli relic.I only have 2. Now three :)

2 bonuses he threw in:
And one of my favorite cards from the lot despite having been released from the Giants # to 10

This was a trade I couldn't refuse. It helped both of us with our PC's. And I recommend to anyone to trade with him as well!

Let me know how you have done online trading outside of specific sites. And have you found bad traders? A bad time with USPS? And thoughts on this trade as well. Did you think this trade was even or one sided?

Random Card Of The Day: Jose Canseco Fleer 1990 Base Card

Review: Panini Contenders Football 2012-WITH LUCK :)

One of my favorite rookie laden products year in and year out Contenders is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. And Panini did a great job in celebrating it with the product adding a base card flashback mocking the originals design from 98. Now onto the review and my thoughts on the 2012 edition:

First off, I would like to say thanks to the WONDERFUL people at Panini America for providing us with this box to review. Here are many places you can find Panini America: official site, blog, Twitter, and Facebook. If you don't follow them at should! They talk to you on Twitter, have contests on their blog and Facebook and the site is also fun to visit!

Box Break Down:
  • 24 Packs Per Box, 5 Cards Per Pack
  • Five Autographs Per Box!
  • Three Rookie Stallions Per Box!
  • $140 a Box
BASE CARDS: I liked the original design which means I am going to like this one as well. There is just something about the Season Ticket design that is catchy. Is it because its supposed to resemble a NFL ticket? Is it the team color scheme on one side the white on the other? Hard to tell. But this is one of my favorite base card designs.
INSERTS: Die cuts make a great addition to this product which my favorite of the two is by far the Rookie Of The Year Contenders. Really like what Panini did there in terms of turning the die cut into a shape of a trophy. The Playoff Tickets are a parallel to the base cards and are numbered just like the original product. Another insert that is very catchy is the Super Bowl one. The design is spectacular and elegant and improved over years past designs. You get about almost 13 inserts in a box. Or thats what ours had.

AUTOGRAPHS: The product says 5 autos per box but most of the time boxes will hand you 6 which I really like and for the price you pay you somewhat hope to land that many.  This product has always been about its autographs, especially its rookie ones. You get one on card per box, which we LUCKED out with ours. Still shaking from seeing this incredible card. The fun thing about this product is chasing the Sp rookie auto tickets, the variations of them (missing some data on the back check the link below to see how you can tell) and seeing rookie autos and rookie cards of players you don't find in every product. Some of whom turn out to be stars in the future.

A list of those Sp's can be found here which also brings you to the Knights Lance:

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Once again, if you are a fan of rookie autographs, this is the product for you. This product is not for everyone though. You can have those great boxes with some top rookie autos or you could have those ones that you never heard of with a few sprinkled in names. I have seen both. As was the case in this box. The first 5 autos were mostly nobodies than BAM came the big hit of Andrew Luck. It may not happen every time but there is plenty to find in this product with the rookie autos and all variations. And the occasional Emeril in you with the BAM in a box. With 6 autos and tons to chase, this product is well worth a try.

RATINGS:  Bloggers Note: Our ratings are based specifically on the blaster, box or packs we opened and do not express what the overall product could bring. Ratings based on a 1-5. 1 Being the lowest and 5 being the highest.
                Packaging: 5
                Base Design: 5
                Insert Design: 4
                Memorablila/Autographs: 4
Blaster, Hobby Box, or Pack Value: 4

Sport Card Collectors MLB Promo

Along with our Monthly Contest Challenge, we thought it would be fun to also do an extra contest on the side. Now, there will only be one winner (maybe 2 read below). But it will be fun to see who that winner is.

Here is the promo:

You must let us know if you want in on this FREE contest by March 1st. We assume you do. The only thing you got to do is pick a team that is going to win the World Series. Each person gets one team. Once a team is chosen, that team is off from the list. A winner can only happen if a team that is chosen wins the World Series. So if we have 30 entries someone will win. We will only do 30 entries UNLESS WE CAN REACH 60 entries. So make sure you get your name in the hat as soon as possible! The first 30 will get first dibs on this contest unless we reach 60 entries then we will run two of them and figure out prizes and the set up from there.

Once you let us know that you are interested (comment below this post by March 1st), we will put your name on a list on a different post. When March 1st comes around, we will put all of the names on this list in a randomizer. Whoever the first person is gets first choice in picking any MLB team.  Then second person makes their selection and so on til every person on the list has chosen a team. We will have a different post for that that will show all of the contestants and all of the teams. The fun thing about baseball is that any team can win. Even the Royals. Sorry, Royals fans for that jab :)

By now you are probably asking, whats the prize going to be? At this point we don't know. It might be a combination of Star Player Cards, Inserts, rookies, maybe a couple of packs and a few game used or autos. We will figure that out closer to the World Series we get and we will make that announcement then.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERS! And let the teams ever play in your favor!

*Contest open to US Residents ONLY...Sorry!!

Review: Panini Prizm Football 2012

The hottest product of the year finally makes its appearance here on Sport Card Collectors. Did it will have to read on to find out!

  • 20 Packs Per Box, 6 Cards Per Pack
  • (2) Autographs and (3) Prizms Per Box!
  • Look for Finite Prizm 1 of 1's!
  • Find (1) Red Prizm Die-Cut Parallel Per Box!
  • $130 Per Box

BASE CARDS:  I quite enjoy anything that has the "chrome" technology so the base cards did not disappoint. I have got to say though I wished the border on these were a bit thinner as it takes up a lot of the card..but with this technology it doesn't kill it too much. Though a little less would be better.

The rookie cards in this product do have parallels which the Mark Barron is an SP version of his rookie card. I like that addition to the football product. I must also say I really like the RC logo Panini created.

Also, the base cards DO NOT BEND!

INSERTS: You gotta love the "Prizms" in the product. You get three per box on average along with one red die cut. The red die cut one is sweet in terms of color and its a die cut. Who doesn't love those? This was something that they needed in the basketball product. The other inserts in the product, thought they have Prizm parallels, I don't really care much for. They needed some more pizazz. They feel like they are lacking and all look the same. Other than that, the Prizm parallels look great. And the Prizms may be what this product is about.

AUTOGRAPHS: Two autographs per box. Thats one more than its rival counterpart. But with such a huge rookie checklist you just never know who you will end up with. It could be anyone. We landed I would call a lucky box hitting Kellen Moore which who knows whats in his future and a "Prizm" # to 99 of Trent Richardson. Thats a pretty looking card. I like the auto box they are in and once again sticker autos do not bother me but some would complain. On this technology the white box gives the autos more appeal. I know people will cover their eyes when reading this, but I think with Panini's version of this technology the cards would be lacking without the white box.

JERSEY/PATCH CARDS: N/A Thought I think this would be great to see in this product.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Did this product disappoint? some ways. When I bust into a product like this, for me its all about the parallels. And only getting 4 in a box just gives you a lot of base cards. Which don't get me wrong, those don't look bad but I would love at least a couple more parallels. The good thing is with the parallels being limited like this it drives up their value which makes collecting inserts worthwhile again. Kinda reminds me of the 90's inserts. Hard to find, but worth the time when you do. You actually find yourself hoping for a good player of one. And instead of it being worth $5 they run up to $30 for some of the good ones.

I do like finding two autographs in the product but with 2 autographs and 4 parallels I am not quite sure what you pay for it might equal out to its value every time. It just depends who you hit in your box and which parallels you land. However, for a rookie run at this product I would say Panini did a good job overall and this one is much improved and has much more in it than the basketball one did. I think a sophomore version of this next year will be very impressive. I just hope they stick with the basics they have and add to it

RATINGS:  Bloggers Note: Our ratings are based specifically on the blaster, box or packs we opened and do not express what the overall product could bring. Ratings based on a 1-5. 1 Being the lowest and 5 being the highest.
                Packaging: 5

Game Day Recipes: Buffalo Chicken Quesadillas

This is the start of my series of recipes I make either for a game day,a trade night or a box busting. I figure, why not share with the rest of the world!! These are great quick snacks and have a great taste. You can serve them with sauce or none. Either will enjoy! ALL RECIPES FEATURED HERE ON SPORT CARD COLLECTORS ARE MY PERSONAL ONES. THEY ARE NOT FROM A COOKBOOK.

Sport Card Collectors Buffalo Chicken Quesadillas
1/2 cup of Buffalo Sauce (get as hot or as mild as you like)
2 plain wraps
1/2 cup of cooked chicken
1 2lb bag of shredded mozzarella
Dash of salt and pepper
Perdue or any brand of precooked chicken you can find from the meat department (you can cook your own chicken but make sure its tender)
Ranch or Blue Cheese sauce to serve with if you prefer

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the buffalo sauce and chicken and set it aside. Lay the wrap flat and put as much cheese on it as you like. About 1/2 cup will do for each but if you like more try it! Also depends on the size of the wraps. After the cheese, lay the desired amount of the buffalo chicken on each. Fold sides together tightly and stick it on a cookie sheet and bake for approx of 10 minutes. Flip, bake another 5 or 6 (watch them just in case some ovens are hotter than others) and bake them to your liking. I like mine extra crispy. So mine might be 20 minutes. But in 15 minutes they should crisp and melt the cheese.
